Responsibilities
- Provide emergency nursing care in a high-acuity environment, including patient triage, initial assessment, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring.
- Administer medications and manage IV therapy, following orders and safety protocols; utilize the Omnicell system for medication administration.
- Document patient care encounters in the Cerner electronic health record; ensure accurate and timely updates to plans of care.
- Collaborate with physicians, hospitalists, intensivists (where applicable), and the care team to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Monitor patient status, identify deteriorating conditions, and initiate escalation or rapid response as needed; participate in shift handoffs and care coordination.
- Support ancillary services (phlebotomy, pharmacy, unit secretary) as required to maintain efficient ED operations.
Requirements
- Current, active RN license in California
- Experience in Emergency Room or acute care nursing; ability to function effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (3x12 schedule)
- Willingness to participate in a travel assignment for the specified contract duration
- Familiarity with Cerner documentation and Omnicell medication system or ability to learn quickly
