Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for an individual patient or assigned group of patients according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of nursing staff; coordinate care with the surgical team and other disciplines using critical thinking and independent judgment.
- Provide intraoperative patient care in the operating room, supporting sterile technique, patient safety, and perioperative continuity of care.
- Monitor patient status, respond to intraoperative changes, and document pertinent care and events.
- Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, perfusion services (when applicable), and support staff to ensure efficient and safe patient flow.
- Read and interpret orders, verify medications and equipment, and participate in post-case handoffs and documentation as required.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license (California) or current eligibility for CA licensure
- OR/perioperative nursing experience preferred
- BLS certification required; additional certifications (e.g., ACLS) may be needed per unit policies
- Ability to work 10-hour day shifts in a surgical environment
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills
- Willingness to participate in credentialing and onboarding processes for a travel assignment
