Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients and families during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, assess for complications, and manage perinatal emergencies (including crash C-sections, precipitous delivery, and shoulder dystocia) in collaboration with the care team.
- Circulate for C-sections and assist with epidural catheter placement; monitor maternal and fetal status during and after medication administration.
- Develop and implement multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans; educate patients and families across all stages of perinatal care.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary staff within the scope of practice; maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record.
- Practice in an LDRP model, demonstrate clinical judgment in emergency situations, and ensure adherence to unit policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Licensure: Current RN license in the state of practice (California required)
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring; additional AHA/ARC certifications as required
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (A.S.) or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
- Experience: Minimum of two years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
- Skills: Proficiency with EPIC or equivalent electronic health record; ability to manage perinatal emergencies and provide family-centered education
- Additional: Ability to work in a high-acuity perinatal unit; compliance with all hospital and unit-specific policies; ability to work night shifts and maintain performance in a 36-hour-per-week schedule
