Responsibilities
- Provide bedside respiratory care to acutely ill patients per physician orders, including airway management and therapy administration
- Set up, monitor, and adjust mechanical ventilation and non-invasive ventilation as indicated
- Perform arterial blood gas collection and analysis; interpret results to guide therapy
- Administer prescribed medications and pulmonary therapies (nebulized meds, aerosols, CPT, oxygen therapy)
- Conduct airway clearance techniques, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, and related therapies as needed
- Document interventions thoroughly and communicate findings with the multidisciplinary team; participate in rounds and escalation of care as appropriate
Requirements
- Active Respiratory Therapist license or eligibility to practice clinically in the appropriate jurisdiction
- NBRC credentials (RRT or CRT) or eligible for credentialing
- Graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program
- Ability to work night shift in a hospital/acute care environment
- Relevant hospital or acute care experience preferred
