Responsibilities
- Provide prescribed respiratory care to inpatients in adult ICU, adult ED, PICU, and NICU Level III as an RRT.
- Manage ventilator support, airway care, airway clearance, suctioning, and respiratory therapies per physician orders.
- Monitor patient status, interpret data, adjust ventilator settings, and respond to changes in patient condition; document care in the EMR.
- Perform related procedures (humidification, airway clearance therapy, CPAP/BiPAP as ordered) and ensure patient safety and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, participate in rounds, and educate patients and families as appropriate.
- Weekend coverage as needed; no on-call responsibilities; schedule flexibility is required.
Requirements
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential; CRT not accepted.
- NBRC verification required.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP (NRP required upon submission).
- Minimum 1 year of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience in inpatient settings.
- Inpatient experience in Adult ICU, Adult ED, PICU, and NICU Level III; teaching hospital experience required.
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years.
- Prior travel experience preferred.
- Must be able to work in a high-acuity inpatient setting and adapt to a fast-paced schedule.
