Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care to emergency department patients across a spectrum of acuity, including initial assessments, triage, and ongoing monitoring.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and basic procedures per physician orders; support A&C and imaging as needed.
- Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the Cerner electronic health record; ensure clear handoffs to oncoming staff.
- Collaborate with physicians, residents, nursing colleagues, and ancillary teams to coordinate care and respond to rapid changes, codes, and trauma activations.
- Manage patient safety and comfort, adhere to infection prevention protocols, and participate in discharge planning and patient education.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in the state of practice (California)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA or ARC equivalents) required
- Cerner training or substantial Cerner experience required
- Minimum 3 years of ER experience in the submitted unit specialty, with activity in the last 3 months
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced emergency department and participate in a 3x12-hour night shift schedule
