Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy services to inpatients under supervision of a licensed OT, contributing to evaluation, treatment planning, and progress toward goals.
- Implement and progress individualized OT treatment plans addressing activities of daily living, upper-extremity function, fine motor skills, cognitive tasks, and functional mobility.
- Facilitate therapeutic activities, caregiver and patient education, and adaptive equipment training; assist with transfers, gait training, and utilization of assistive devices.
- Monitor patient safety, apply proper body mechanics, and maintain infection control and documentation standards; communicate patient status to the supervising OT.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (OT, PT, nursing, social work) to coordinate care and discharge planning; document progress and home exercise programs as appropriate.
- Prepare concise progress notes and contribute to discharge planning to optimize transitions to home or other settings.
Requirements
- Active COTA license/credential in New Mexico or eligible to obtain licensure in NM.
- Education: Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent.
- Experience: Inpatient rehabilitation or skilled nursing setting experience preferred.
- Skills: Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable with therapy documentation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Availability to work a guaranteed 35 hours per week in a daytime schedule (08:00–16:30), five days per week.
- Ability to travel and fulfill assignment requirements in a travel healthcare role.
