Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive speech-language pathology evaluations for residents to identify communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans targeting voice, fluency, language, cognition, and swallowing safely and effectively.
- Conduct bedside swallow assessments and manage dysphagia, coordinating recommendations with the interdisciplinary team.
- Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge planning in the resident’s medical record according to facility policy and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with nursing, rehabilitation, social work, and medical teams to optimize resident outcomes and transitions of care.
- Educate residents, families, and care partners on communication strategies, compensatory strategies, and swallowing safety as appropriate.
Requirements
- Active licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the United States (state licensure requirements apply).
- Demonstrated experience evaluating and treating speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Strong documentation and communication skills; ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
- Comfort working in a long-term care setting and adapting to varied resident needs.
- Availability to work the assigned 5x8 daytime shift for the 17-week contract.
