Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to obstetric and newborn patients, from active labor through the postpartum period and into the newborn’s first days of life
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, administer medications, assist with labor and delivery procedures, and support cesarean births as needed
- Deliver postpartum and neonatal care, including newborn assessments and parent education on infant care, feeding, and safety
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, anesthesiology, nursing staff, neonatal care, and ancillary services) to ensure safe, evidence-based practice
- Document assessments, plans, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record; participate in shift handoffs and care planning
- Maintain infection prevention and patient safety standards, including support for family education and discharge planning
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California (or active CA eligibility for licensure)
- Experience in Labor & Delivery or related obstetric/women’s health nursing preferred
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours per week
- Capacity to work in a hospital setting on a travel assignment
- Vaccination requirements as a condition of employment, with exemptions where applicable
