Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg (Travel) in Hilo, HI, starting May 18, 2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay: $1,861-$1,865 per week. Guaranteed hours: none. Shift: 12-hour Day shifts, 3x12 (0645–1915). Setting: hospital-style medical/surgical care with occasional unit-wide floating.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to adults on medical and surgical units, with float coverage to Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and rarely the Cardiovascular Unit
- Assess patients, monitor vitals, implement care plans, administer medications and therapies per physician orders
- Assist with procedures and post-procedure care; manage wound vacs, chest tubes, and Pyxis medication administration
- Document accurately in the Meditech EMR; communicate changes to the interdisciplinary team; participate in rounds
- Monitor patient safety, infection control, and patient education; adjust priorities as patient conditions change
- Maintain unit equipment readiness and adapt to unit-specific routines and ratios (Medical 1:6 by day/evening, 1:8 at night; Laulima 1:6; Cardiovascular 1:4)
Requirements
- Active Hawaii Registered Nurse license required by start date (if not currently held, must apply and obtain)
- CPR/BLS required; ACLS preferred; additional certifications may be valued (PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC)
- 2–10 years of relevant clinical experience in medical/surgical or float-capable settings
- Ability to work 12-hour day shifts and float to Medical Unit, Laulima Unit, and Cardiovascular Unit as needed
- Proof of immunity for required vaccines; exemptions not accepted in lieu of documented immunity
- Must arrive the Thursday before start to complete employee health requirements
