Responsibilities
- Provide respiratory care across ICU, NICU, ER, and floor therapy settings, including assessment, treatment, and optimization of respiratory therapy plans.
- Manage mechanical ventilation and critical care therapies; monitor patient response and adjust as directed by the care team.
- Administer inhaled medications and therapies (LABA, LAMA, SABA, ICS) and assist with surfactant administration when indicated.
- Perform procedures such as noninvasive ventilation and arterial puncture; obtain arterial blood gases as needed.
- Operate and troubleshoot common ICU/CCU equipment (for example: Drager V500/VN500, Evita XL, Carina, Philips V60, V30) and document care activities accurately in the patient record.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other therapists to develop and adjust care plans; participate in rounds and ensure patient safety and protocol compliance.
- Provide care for diverse patient populations, including neonates, infants, adults, and geriatrics, with attention to NICU/neonatal considerations when applicable.
Requirements
- NICU experience preferred but negotiable; NRP certification required if NICU experience is present.
- Mechanical ventilation/critical care experience is required.
- Ability to work across ICU, NICU, ER, and floor therapy settings.
- Proficiency with inhaled medications and noninvasive ventilation; familiarity with arterial sampling.
- Comfortable with high-acuity, fast-paced environments and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
- Willingness to work night shifts as part of a 3x12 night schedule.
