Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive ED nursing care to a high-volume, diverse patient population, including newborn to geriatric ages
- Perform triage, initial assessment, and ongoing monitoring using standard ED protocols and ESI criteria
- Establish IV access, administer medications, and manage infusions and drips per physician orders
- Conduct diagnostic tests (EKG, basic lab draws) and interpret findings to support rapid clinical decisions
- Document patient care in the electronic medical record (EPIC) and coordinate care with ED physicians, mid-level providers, and ancillary staff
- Facilitate patient transports to higher levels of care as needed and participate in telestroke consultations when applicable
Requirements
- Active RN license (as applicable per assignment jurisdiction)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ENPC, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC required; TNCC (or proof of class with date applied) must be in packet; NIHSS required prior to start
- ED/trauma experience: minimum 2 years in a similar unit; at least 1 prior travel assignment preferred
- Travel experience: previous travel assignment required
- EPIC experience within the past 2 years required
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and meet unit scheduling demands; no floating required
- Willingness to work on holidays as part of assignment requirements
