Setting: hospital-based Med/Surg Telemetry unit (20 beds) with EPIC charting

- Orientation: 4 hours; floating to MS/ICU/ED as needed; every other weekend
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to adults and geriatrics on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit, including cardiac and stroke populations
- Monitor patient status, interpret telemetry, administer medications, and manage IV therapies
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (IV team, PT, Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Services, Transportation, Unit Secretary, Rapid Response) to coordinate care
- Document in EPIC; update assessments, plans of care, progress notes, and discharge planning as appropriate
- Maintain infection control and isolation precautions; administer oxygen therapy and non-invasive airway support
- Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy and IV placement; respond to Rapid Response/Code events; manage dysrhythmias
- Float to MS, ICU, or ED as needed by unit staffing
Requirements
- Active New York RN license in hand (not pending)
- BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience (Med/Surg or Telemetry)
- EPIC charting experience required
- Mandatory phlebotomy and IV placement competency; dysrhythmia interpretation
- Ability to float to MS, ICU, and ED; comfortable working 3x12-hour shifts; comply with RTO limits (no holiday RTO; limit to 7 days per request)
