Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients across age groups (neonate through geriatric) in the unit, following evidence-based practice and unit protocols.
- Collaborate with the health care team to promote safe, optimal patient outcomes; communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues.
- Direct and supervise support staff in the provision of patient care, ensuring appropriate assignments and patient safety.
- Apply sound nursing judgment to perform general nursing duties with minimal supervision; prioritize care in a fast-paced, acute care environment.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses; use available computer systems to maintain accurate records.
- Support continuity of care by coordinating with team members and families, adapting to changing patient needs.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Iowa, in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
- Graduate of an accredited RN program; BSN is preferred.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required; ACLS certification required.
- New employees must certify within three months after hire date per policy; current ACLS certification preferred.
- Nursing experience in an acute care setting is preferred.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively in English; strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; empathetic listening and respectful approach to colleagues and patients.
- Basic computer proficiency; strong critical thinking and nursing judgment across age-specific populations.
