- Facility/work setting: Short Term Acute Care Hospital GI lab (endoscopy procedures)
Responsibilities
- Assist gastroenterologists during endoscopic procedures in the GI lab; prepare the procedure room, equipment, and sterile supplies; assist with patient positioning and monitoring.
- Handle endoscopes and related equipment, including cleaning, disinfection, storage, and quality testing; perform ultrasonic cleaning and solution changes as required; document quality control results.
- Maintain sterilization quality and compliance with universal precautions and hazardous materials management; supervise sterilization processes per established policies.
- Transport patients between departments; collaborate with registered nurses to provide direct care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing GI procedures.
- Inventory supplies and communicate needs to inventory staff; collect data for performance improvement and assist with specimen collection as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in GI lab/endoscopy or related field
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; CPR or BLS from an approved vendor per policy
- Current nursing license per the state of assignment
- Education: High School/GED required; Associate’s/Technical Degree preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced GI lab within a short-term acute care hospital setting
- Start times vary; call required with rotating weekend coverage
