Travel Registered Nurse ER Job
Registered Nurse - ER travel assignment in Mauston, Wisconsin. Start date 09/01/2026 for a 13-week assignment with a guaranteed 32 hours per week. Shift pattern is 3x12-hour rotations. Provides care in a short-term acute care setting with an Emergency Department that serves a wide age range from pediatric to geriatric. The role includes direct patient care, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and ongoing assessment and prioritization to support patient flow and safety.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver direct nursing care for patients across the ED, from pediatric to geriatric, across the illness-wellness continuum
- Perform triage according to the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) 5 level triage process and initiate appropriate care
- Document care using medical terminology in an ED chart; ensure accuracy and legal compliance reflective of nursing care provided
- Collaborate with physicians, peers, ancillary services, and outside agencies to optimize patient care and throughput
- Prioritize care for multiple simultaneous patients; communicate needs concisely and advocate for patients as needed
- Monitor life support equipment, administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and manage emergency resuscitation protocols
- Maintain equipment and supplies; ensure rooms are stocked and checklists are completed before shift end
- Provide discharge planning and family/patient education as appropriate
- Participate in ongoing professional development and education activities; support pre-hospital providers and students when applicable
- Demonstrate proficiency with computerized documentation and protect patient rights and privacy
Requirements
- Licensure: Wisconsin Registered Nursing license or active Compact Licensure
- Education: Two-year degree in nursing required; four-year degree preferred
- Certification: Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC required; ATCN preferred
- Experience: 2+ years of relevant ED nursing experience
- Other: Ability to work in a high-stress ED environment; strong communication and teamwork skills; eligible for travel assignment and able to meet shift requirements and rotation
