Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to ICU patients across MICU, SICU, Respiratory Special Care, and Surgical Progressive Care as assigned, with float coverage to units in greatest staffing need.
- Monitor patient status continuously, assess changes, interpret hemodynamic data, and implement care plans; manage ventilator support and vasoactive medications per protocol.
- Perform required invasive and non-invasive procedures within scope of practice, ensure proper monitoring, and maintain patient safety and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and case management; document comprehensively in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Maintain infection control, safety, and regulatory compliance; participate in shift handoffs and unit-based quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills; adapt to float across ICU-related units as needed and stay current in critical care practices.
Requirements
- Active New York RN license
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Minimum 2 years ICU acute care nursing experience
- Ability to work in an ICU setting and float to MICU/SICU/Respiratory Care and Surgical Progressive Care as needed
- Demonstrated ability to work nights and meet the unit’s schedule requirements
