Responsibilities
- Assist licensed/registered/certified Occupational Therapist in administering occupational therapy programs in compliance with state practice acts.
- Deliver therapy services planned, delegated and supervised by the qualified Occupational Therapist in accordance with each patient’s Plan of Treatment.
- Support the implementation of vocational/education activities designed by the Occupational Therapist to restore function and promote health and independence.
- Design or adapt equipment and living/work environments; fabricate devices to assist and improve function and independence as appropriate.
- Provide therapeutic treatment and instruction to patients to improve/restore strength, coordination, range of motion and functional abilities; teach compensatory strategies when indicated.
- Document observations and progress in patient records; assist with progress reports and ensure required documentation is submitted.
- Instruct patients and families on home programs and proper use of adaptive equipment.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies; participate in care coordination and discharge planning.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary care planning and community reintegration activities as appropriate.
- Pursue ongoing professional development and participate in performance improvement initiatives and research activities as assigned.

Requirements
- Current licensure/certification in the state of practice (Washington) required.
- Graduation from an occupational therapy assistant education program accredited by ACOTE (or successor organizations).
- Minimum 6 months of related experience required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Basic knowledge of rehabilitation techniques related to complex neurological injury.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to function with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a skilled nursing facility setting and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team.
