Responsibilities
- Perform basic and critical respiratory care services as ordered by the physician and in accordance with department policy.
- Provide respiratory care for adult and geriatric patients; manage care for patients with respiratory disease.
- Administer aerosolized therapies and oxygen therapy; document care in medical records and charge for services as required.
- Monitor and manage patients on mechanical ventilation; assist with ventilator-related care and assessment.
- Draw arterial blood gases per policy and physician orders; maintain accurate documentation and charts.
- Collaborate with the care team, participate in training of new staff, and contribute to department records and procedural compliance.
Requirements
- Licensure/certification: NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT credential (required in CA, OR, and HI); Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license (CA) required. BLS certification required; ACLS certification required; NRP certification preferred; PALS certification preferred; PEARS certification preferred. Facility policy may require CPR/BLS as part of credentialing.
- Experience: At least two years of recent experience in the field.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required; Master’s Degree preferred.
- EMR experience: EPIC and Cerner experience preferred; for EPIC backfill assignments, EPIC and Cerner experience is required.
- Additional: Current nursing license per the state of assignment; ability to work in a hospital setting and on 12-hour shifts; travel assignment readiness.
