Speech Language Pathologist — Acute Care, Monterey, California, United States. This travel, temporary assignment starts on 08/10/2026 and runs for 13 weeks with guaranteed hours of 35 per week. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, and cognitive assessments for adult residents to identify communication and swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable goals; provide evidence-based interventions to improve communication, voice, fluency, cognition, and/or swallowing function.
- Perform bedside swallow evaluations and manage dysphagia with appropriate therapy plans, equipment, and precautions; adjust therapy intensity based on patient status.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, physical/occupational therapy, social work, and case management to coordinate care, discharge planning, and patient outcomes.
- Document assessment findings, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge recommendations in the medical record according to facility policy and regulatory standards.
- Participate in care conferences and case reviews; provide education and resources to family members and caregiving staff as appropriate.
Requirements
- Active Speech-Language Pathologist license in California (or eligible for CA licensure)
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) or current eligibility
- 1+ year of clinical experience as an SLP; experience in acute care or skilled nursing facility settings preferred
- Ability to work in a facility-based environment and document effectively in electronic medical records
- U.S. work authorization
