Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to laboring patients, including monitoring maternal and fetal status.
- Manage fetal monitoring, administer medications as ordered, and support during labor, delivery, and postpartum care.
- Assist with newborn stabilization as needed and collaborate with the obstetric team for safe delivery and immediate newborn care.
- Document care in the medical record, communicate changes to the care team, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout the continuum of labor and postpartum care.
- Participate in care coordination for mothers and newborns, including education on postnatal care, breastfeeding, and infant safety.
- Maintain clinical competencies for a labor and delivery RN, including adherence to unit policies and procedures.

Requirements
- Current license as a Registered Nurse by the State of California.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification required within six months of employment; recertified every two years.
- NRP certification required; hospital conscious sedation certification required for RNs in WCU and Nursing Supervision within six months of employment; recertified every two years in NRP.
- ACLS and STABLE preferred.
- Labor and Delivery experience: at least 1 year preferred; 3–4 years of L&D experience noted in shift description.
- Strong labor experience with postpartum and newborn stabilization skills; nursery experience at any level is appreciated.
- Ability to work in a travel assignment at a Critical Access Hospital setting.
