Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients (high, moderate, and low risk) in collaboration with the interdisciplinary obstetric team.
- Monitor fetal status, maternal vitals, and laboratory results; respond to early warning signs and obstetric emergencies.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor responses; maintain accurate documentation in the medical record.
- Participate in patient and family education, discharge planning, and coordination with other services to ensure safe transitions of care.
- Rotate through OB/GYN units as needed; contribute to unit coverage and support across services, including triage and operating room environments when required.
- Demonstrate effective communication, prioritization, and problem solving in a fast-paced labor and delivery setting.
Requirements
- RN license (New York state) required
- Two (2) years of obstetric experience required
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- Specific job notes indicate OR and triage experience highly desired
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient- and family-centered environment and to float across OB units as needed
- Education as required for RN licensure and practice in New York
