Responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and coordinate recreation-based treatment programs for individuals with disabilities, injuries, or mental illnesses.
- Deliver recreational therapy services using a variety of techniques, including arts and crafts, animals, sports, games, dance and movement, drama, music, and community outings.
- Assess patient needs, develop individualized treatment plans, monitor progress, and adjust interventions to achieve therapeutic goals.
- Document patient progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate outcomes to the care team in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (nursing, psychology, social work, and other therapists) to integrate recreation therapy into overall treatment plans.
- Ensure patient safety during activities, promote engagement, and adhere to professional ethical standards and facility policies.
Requirements
- Experience in recreational therapy or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to work in a hospital-based setting with behavioral health patients, on a day shift.
- Willingness to participate in a 13-week travel assignment and a 40-hour work week.
- Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills to coordinate with the care team and patients.
- Ability to implement and adapt evidence-based recreational therapy activities to diverse patient populations and settings.
