Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care for cardiovascular stepdown patients, including post-open heart surgery patients (approximately 18–24 hours post-op) and those with congestive heart failure or undergoing electrophysiology studies
- Monitor telemetry, vital signs, and hemodynamics; interpret EKGs and respond to arrhythmias promptly
- Administer medications and therapies per physician orders; manage IVs, drips, wound care, and device-related care as applicable
- Assist with procedures and post-operative care for interventions such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers
- Collaborate with the cardiovascular unit team to develop and execute individualized care plans; participate in rounding and patient/family education; document in the electronic medical record
- Maintain compliance with unit policies, including attendance expectations, and be willing to float to similar units as needed

Requirements
- Active state license: Registered Nurse, Michigan; license verification required (LARA and Nursys)
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS
- Experience: 1+ year of Stepdown experience
- Skills: Proficiency in cardiac care; EKG comfortability and telemetry interpretation
- Travel requirements: Travel — eligible and willing to work a travel assignment
- Other: Complete a skills checklist within one year of application for RN specialties; prepared to work in a cardiovascular stepdown setting
- Education: Not specified in notes; ongoing requirement to meet standard RN licensure and unit-specific credentials
