Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic sonography procedures in OB/GYN, abdomen, breast, vascular, and small parts.
- Corroborate patient clinical history with the procedure and document findings for licensed practitioners.
- Prepare patients for procedures, provide instructions, obtain cooperation, and minimize anxiety.
- Select and operate ultrasound equipment; position patient and equipment to optimize visualization; evaluate image quality.
- Verify informed consent for interventional procedures and assist licensed practitioners as needed.
- Maintain aseptic technique, patient safety, and confidentiality; participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives.
- May provide practical instruction to students or staff and support department workflow and supply decisions.
Requirements
- Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree from a CAHEA-accredited sonography program or equivalent.
- Licenses/ Certifications: OBMI and ARDMS registered US Sonographer; current BLS certification; NRP certification required; CRASE training preferred if travel extends beyond 6 months.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of ultrasound experience.
- Additional: Ability to work nights; capable of performing duties in a hospital-based imaging setting; ability to lift and maneuver equipment and patients as needed.
