Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to critically ill neuro patients in a 12-bed ICU, including diagnoses such as traumatic brain injury, aneurysm, status epilepticus, stroke, and other neurologic pathologies
- Monitor neuro status, telemetry, hemodynamics, medications, and ventilation as appropriate; implement ICU protocols and escalation plans
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team (ne neurology, neurosurgery, respiratory therapy, physical/occupational therapy, case management) to develop and execute individualized care plans
- Perform timely assessments, administer therapies, manage lines and drains, and document changes in condition; participate in holidays/on-call/callback duties and assume unit charge responsibilities as needed
- Respond to emergencies, participate in rapid response and code events, and uphold patient safety, infection control, and documentation standards
- Maintain current knowledge of critical care practices; participate in ongoing education and quality improvement activities
Requirements
- RN license active in New York (NYRN)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU acute care experience
- Telemetry monitoring experience
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Ability to work in a high-acuity neuro ICU environment with D/E/N rotation and on-call responsibilities
