Responsibilities
- Conduct baseline nursing assessments and histories for outpatients receiving radiation therapy, including vital signs, pain assessment, and medication history.
- Document according to Oncology Nursing Society guidelines; assess fall risk and allergies, and communicate pertinent changes to the physician and care team.
- Perform weekly assessments for signs and symptoms related to radiation therapy; prepare charts for initial assessments and follow-up visits; coordinate care with the radiation oncology team.
- Assist physicians with procedures in the radiation therapy department, including Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and High Dose Rate (HDR) brachytherapy; prepare exam rooms and support procedural needs.
- Take vital signs, assist with procedures, draw blood as needed, start IV therapy for contrast administration, and administer medications as ordered; provide oxygen if required.
- Serve as a liaison for transportation, scheduling, and pertinent medical issues between patients, families, and radiation therapists to facilitate smooth care delivery.

Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice (California)
- Education: BSN preferred
- Certifications: AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS required; CPR certification or Basic Life Support as applicable per AH policy
- Oncology Certification: ONC, CHIM, or ONC/ONCC-CHIM required
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience; oncology/chemotherapy infusion experience required; outpatient radiation therapy/oncology experience preferred
- Ability to work in an outpatient radiation therapy department and perform IV starts, blood draws, and medication administration as directed
