Responsibilities
- Provide Respiratory Therapy for adult ICU and general inpatient units, including ventilator management and airway support per physician orders and protocol.
- Administer prescribed therapies (nebulized medications, aerosol therapies, airway clearance) and monitor patient responses; document in the EMR (Epic) per recent standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and the respiratory care team; participate in rounds and discharge planning as applicable.
- Monitor and adjust treatments based on patient status, ABG trends when applicable, and protocol; ensure equipment readiness and safety.
- Respond to respiratory distress and acute events; maintain infection control and equipment precautions; complete documentation and shift handoffs accurately.
- Weekend coverage as needed with a focus on schedule flexibility; no on-call requirement.
Requirements
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential with NBRC verification; will not accept CRT.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications.
- Minimum 1 year of inpatient respiratory care experience; teaching hospital experience required.
- Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years (nonnegotiable).
- Prior travel experience preferred; ED experience is attractive but not mandatory.
- Ability to work in a hospital inpatient setting; comfortable with 3x12 night shifts and a flexible weekend schedule.
- All specialty and work history details should be documented for submission.
