Responsibilities
- Perform decontamination, prep/pack, steam sterilization, low-temperature sterilization, and endoscope reprocessing.
- Prepare instrument sets and loaner trays; maintain instrument readiness for robotic, general, cardiac, ortho/spine, neuro, ENT, dental, urology, endo, and other service lines.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment and washers; work with Olympus scopes when applicable.
- Ensure accurate documentation, batch traceability, and compliance with sterile processing standards; manage inventory and case carts for OR teams.
- Support cross-training across service lines, collaborate with surgical services, and uphold infection prevention and patient safety practices.

Requirements
- Certifications: CRCST (HSPA) required; UVMMC will not accept other national certifications. Sterile Processing Certification verification (equivalency) accepted. Preferred certifications can include CER, CIS, and CHL but would not exclude CRCST.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of SPD experience; at least 1 year in a level 1 academic medical center with 20+ ORs.
- Travel experience: A minimum of 2 prior travel assignments for at least 13 weeks each.
- Skills: Competent in decontamination, prep/pack, steam sterilization, low-temperature sterilization, and endoscope reprocessing. Experience with service lines including robotics, general, cardiac, orthopedics, ortho spine, neuro, ENT, eyes, and related instrumentation; familiarity with Olympus scopes and loaner trays; comfort with DaVinci Robot Xi and related equipment.
- Schedule and logistics: Ability to work a rotating day/evening schedule; reliable transportation to the assignment location.
- Other: Demonstrated ability to process a variety of instrument sets efficiently (minor sets, dental sets, ortho trays) and maintain high standards of asepsis.
