Summary: This assignment requires performing echocardiography to image heart muscle, chambers, valves and vessels. You will work closely with cardiologists to acquire images, evaluate findings, and report results. The role involves patient preparation, image acquisition, data entry, and maintaining equipment in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Responsibilities
- Set up ultrasound equipment and perform echocardiography studies to image heart structures, chambers, valves, and vessels; document cardiac data and measurements.
- Prepare patients by positioning, applying gel, attaching electrodes, verifying wave signals, and recording images; review medical records to tailor imaging techniques.
- Interact with patients to gather history and provide instructions; ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the exam.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, perform the technical aspects of examinations, assess image quality, and report findings promptly.
- Maintain and organize equipment, restock supplies, manage patient scheduling, and document patient information in the appropriate systems.
- Operate stress echo/cardiac treadmill imaging as required and stay current with professional knowledge through ongoing education.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent; preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Currently certified, or eligible to be certified, with a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential from ARDMS or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Required
- Echocardiography credential: Preferred
- BLS/CPR: Required (Basic Life Support from an approved vendor per policy)
- Experience: 5+ years of echocardiography experience required (on-call schedule: 2–3 days per week)
- Additional: Current nursing license per the state of assignment; Ability to work in a hospital setting and adapt to rotating schedules
