Responsibilities
- Set up ultrasound equipment and prepare the patient, attaching electrodes and documenting cardiac data and measurements.
- Perform echocardiography to image the heart muscle, chambers, valves, and vessels; collaborate with cardiologists to interpret findings and report results.
- Prepare patients by positioning, applying gel, and adjusting technique based on medical records and clinical indications.
- Conduct treadmill echocardiography when indicated to assess cardiac function; provide patient instructions and maintain safety.
- Maintain and inventory ultrasound equipment, restock supplies, review patient schedules, and enter data into appropriate systems.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to safety and organizational policies; pursue ongoing professional development.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (some certifications may require Bachelor’s).
- Licenses/Certifications: Currently certified, or eligible to be certified, with a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) certification from ARDMS or CCI; Echocardiography (ECG) certification preferred; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Experience: 5+ years of recent field experience.
- Ability to work in an acute care setting and participate in rotating shifts as needed.
