Responsibilities
- Deliver coordinated nursing care for an individual patient or a group of patients in the ER according to established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care; develop and adjust patient care plans with critical thinking and clinical judgment.
- Supervise and direct activities of various levels of assigned nursing staff; coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams.
- Administer medications and monitor responses; respond promptly to emergencies and changes in patient condition.
- Perform triage and manage patient flow in a fast-paced ER environment; monitor and interpret NIH Stroke Scale as required.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and treatment teams; participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
- Document care accurately in the electronic health record (Epic experience required); educate patients and families as needed.
Requirements
- Active RN license in the state of practice (California) or the state of assignment
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS and PALS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Scale certification/experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- BSN preferred
- At least two years of recent ER or acute care nursing experience
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital ER setting and meet assignment demands
- Strong clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills
