Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse – Med Surg, Hilo, Hawaii. This travel assignment starts on June 1, 2026 and runs for 13 weeks, with a weekly pay range of $1,814 to $1,889. Shifts are 12-hour days (0645–1915), three shifts per week. The assignment is in a hospital setting with medical and surgical units. Orientation is provided for each unit. The traveler must hold an active Hawaii RN license by start date; if you are not in possession of Hawaii licensure at acceptance, you must apply and obtain licensure by start. Immunization documentation is required; medical and religious exemptions are not accepted in lieu of immunity proof. You may float to Medical, Laulima, and, on rare occasions, Cardiovascular units. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios include Medical 1:6, Laulima 1:6, and Cardiovascular 1:4. Expect to use Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vac, and chest tubes. Plan to arrive the Thursday before the start date to complete employee health tasks.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to medical and surgical patients in the Med Surg portfolio
- Float to Medical, Laulima (surgical Acute), and Cardiovascular units as needed
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders; monitor patient status; respond to changes in condition
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team; participate in rounds; educate patients and families
- Document in Meditech EMR; manage Pyxis workflows; operate wound vac and chest tubes
- Adhere to unit-specific protocols, infection control, safety standards, and high-quality care expectations
Requirements
- Hawaii Registered Nurse license must be active by start date (or must apply upon acceptance and obtain by start)
- 2–10 years of Med Surg RN experience
- Current BLS certification; ACLS preferred (PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC also preferred)
- Ability to float between Medical, Laulima, and Cardiovascular units
- Education: graduate of an approved nursing program; active RN license
- Proficiency with Meditech EMR and hospital-based clinical equipment; ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to a floating assignment
