Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough postpartum assessments and develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for postpartum patients and newborns.
- Deliver direct nursing care across the perinatal spectrum, promoting safe, culturally competent, and evidence-based practices.
- Provide clear education to patients and families on postpartum care, newborn care, lactation, and safe transitions of care.
- Direct and supervise licensed practical nurses and other ancillary personnel; ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and the broader care team; participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Float to other departments as needed, with appropriate orientation and training.

Requirements
- Current New Mexico RN license or active Multi-State Compact (eNLC) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Department-specific qualifications for Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP): current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required.
- OPS Emergency Workshop and STABLE certification required within 12 months.
- SAFER NM Technician certification preferred.
- Education and clinical experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for perinatal/postpartum care; ability to deliver compassionate, patient-centered care and to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
- Ability to work in a hospital postpartum setting and to float to other departments as needed.
