Registered Nurse - First Assist (RNFA) travel assignment in a short-term acute care setting in Templeton, CA. Start date 06/22/2026 for 13 weeks. Weekly pay range: $2,524 to $2,585 per week. Responsibilities
- Provide intraoperative nursing care as RN First Assistant under the surgeon, including tissue retraction, exposure, suction, hemostasis, and wound management.
- Assist with orthopedic procedures (including total joints), gynecologic surgeries, and general surgery as RNFA, under surgeon guidance.
- Maintain sterile technique, prepare and pass instruments, anticipate surgeon needs, and manage intraoperative equipment.
- Monitor patient status during surgery, communicate changes to the team, and support anesthesia as needed.
- Collaborate with the OR team to ensure patient safety, accurate documentation, and efficient workflow.
- Participate in on-call duties: one night per week and one weekend per month.
Requirements
- Active California RN license
- RN First Assist (RNFA) certification required
- Experience as RNFA in orthopedic surgery (including total joints), gynecologic surgery, and general surgery
- Ability to work day shift with four 10-hour shifts (Mon–Fri) and be available for on-call and weekend coverage
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced operating room environment
