Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to individuals within a corrections setting, following nursing standards, facility policies, and security procedures
- Perform initial assessments, monitor vital signs, respond to changes in condition, and document findings promptly in the medical record
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments, manage wound care, and oversee intravenous therapies in accordance with orders and protocols
- Respond to medical emergencies, initiate appropriate interventions, and coordinate with the on-site medical team and security staff for safe patient management
- Conduct routine rounds, document care plans, update nursing notes, and ensure accurate medication reconciliation and infection control compliance
- Collaborate with physicians, mental health professionals, case managers, and other interdisciplinary staff to coordinate comprehensive care and ensure continuity of care
Requirements
- Availability to work 40 hours per week for a 13-week contract
- Ability to work effectively in a corrections setting and to follow security, safety, and confidentiality policies
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with attention to accuracy and compliance
- Competence in core nursing duties such as monitoring, medication administration, and routine procedures
- Ability to complete onboarding, orientation, and credentialing steps as required by the assignment
