Responsibilities
- Prepare and position patients for external beam radiation therapy according to the treatment plan, ensuring correct immobilization and alignment.
- Operate and monitor linear accelerators and related equipment, performing routine quality checks per protocol.
- Deliver treatment per prescription, verify patient identity and treatment parameters, and document procedures accurately.
- Utilize image guidance for treatment setup (e.g., portal imaging or IGRT) and adjust patient positioning as required.
- Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, physicists, and nursing staff to maintain treatment accuracy and patient safety.
- Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety principles (ALARA), cleanliness, and equipment safety; report issues promptly.
- Document treatments and patient responses, contributing to ongoing treatment planning and charting.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience as a Radiation Therapy Tech
- AHA BLS certification required
- Ability to work in a hospital-based radiation oncology department
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; solid documentation practices
- Eligible for travel assignment and able to work a weekday 8x5 schedule
