- Housing: Travelers are responsible for securing their own housing; nearby towns Basalt, Carbondale, and Glenwood Springs. $3,500/month is common for a 1BR in Basalt.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to PCU patients as the primary nurse within an interdisciplinary team in a rural Critical Access Hospital setting.
- Conduct ongoing patient assessment, develop and modify the plan of care, administer medications and therapies per policy, and monitor oxygenation and hemodynamics.
- Collaborate with physicians, case management, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure smooth patient transitions; document in the electronic health record.
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, uphold infection control practices, and respond to changes in patient condition, including emergencies.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning as appropriate.
- Maintain unit readiness and equipment, ensuring compliance with policies and privacy standards.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Colorado RN license or ability to obtain prior to start date.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; may be obtained prior to start.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required.
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Ability to work nights on a 3x12 schedule in a high-altitude rural Critical Access Hospital; must be healthy enough to safely function at 8,000 feet.
