Responsibilities
- Plan and provide nursing care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients, including emergency situations and circulating for C-sections.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status, assess amniotic fluid, vaginal bleeding, and recognize and manage abnormalities; implement appropriate interventions.
- Manage pain control during labor and support alternative pain control methods when appropriate; assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor status during and after administration.
- Educate patients and families across perinatal and postpartum periods, adapting methods to age, condition, culture, and learning readiness.
- Develop and implement multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plans in collaboration with the health care team; document patient response and progress.
- Supervise and delegate care responsibilities to ancillary personnel within scope of practice; ensure accurate, legible, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Requirements
- Current RN license in the state of practice (California)
- Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
- Minimum two years of recent Labor & Delivery experience
- Licenses/Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course; AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Ability to work in a Labor & Delivery setting; LDRP model experience
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Must be able to work a rotating schedule; initial Day shift assignment with transition to Night shift during internal transfers
- Shift length: 12-hour periods; Night shift hours 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- No Call required for this assignment
