Responsibilities
- Provide coordinated nursing care for Med Surg patients following established standards of care and the nursing process.
- Collect relevant data, analyze assessment findings, identify care needs, and develop and implement an appropriate care plan.
- Deliver therapies and interventions, coordinate care with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team, and participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
- Monitor patient progress, evaluate outcomes, and adjust plans as needed; educate patients and family members about health status, treatment options, and self-care.
- Supervise and direct activities of assigned nursing staff across different levels, delegating tasks as appropriate and ensuring safe, effective care.
- Document care accurately in the electronic medical record (EPIC) and maintain compliance with privacy and safety standards.
Requirements
- Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license in California (state of practice) or equivalent required.
- Education: BSN preferred.
- Experience: At least two years of recent acute care or Med Surg experience.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified. ACLS and PALS required; PALS may be preferred/optional for a first contract but must be attained by the traveler if the assignment extends.
- Competence: Proficiency with EPIC or equivalent EMR platform; ability to work in a fast-paced, unit-based environment.
