Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to oncology patients, including assessment, planning, and implementation of cancer treatment and symptom management plans.
- Administer chemotherapy per certification, monitor for adverse reactions, and ensure strict chemotherapy safety and handling protocols.
- Monitor patient status, including vital signs, lab results, and treatment responses; document findings in the patient record and communicate changes to the care team.
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other disciplines to coordinate comprehensive oncology care and ensure smooth care transitions.
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans, potential side effects, and symptom management; support informed decision-making and adherence to safety procedures.
- Maintain compliance with AHA BLS and NIH certifications; uphold infection control and safety standards in all nursing duties.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license.
- Minimum 2 years of recent oncology nursing experience.
- Chemo certification with the ability to administer chemotherapy.
- AHA BLS certification and NIH certification.
- Nursing degree from an accredited program (RN); eligible to practice in the setting.
- Ability to perform in a hospital-based oncology environment and to work the specified shift and holiday requirements.
