Responsibilities
- Provide registered nurse perioperative care in the operating room for a broad range of surgical specialties, including general, gynecologic, urologic, oral, otolaryngology, bariatrics, orthopedics, neuro, vascular, thoracic, cardiac, plastics, podiatry, robotics, pediatric, trauma, and spine.
- Scrub and circulator duties as appropriate, maintaining sterile technique, credentialed equipment preparation, and accurate intraoperative documentation.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and anesthesia technologists to ensure patient safety, correct positioning, and timely progression of cases.
- Monitor patient status from preop through recovery, recognizing and escalating intraoperative changes, and coordinating supplies, implants, and instrumentation as needed.
- Assist with room turnover, instrument counts, and equipment readiness while upholding infection prevention standards.
- On-call responsibilities: 1x per schedule; may float to other OR areas if needed to support patient care and workflow.
Requirements
- 2+ years of inpatient OR experience
- Scrub experience required
- BLS certification
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Competent in at least five of the listed services (general, gynecology, GU, oral, oto, bariatrics, ortho, neuro, vascular, thoracic, cardiac, plastics, podiatry, robotics, pediatrics, trauma, spine); level 1 trauma experience preferred
- Comfortable working in a surgical setting with circulating and scrub responsibilities as needed
- Must be able to adapt to a dynamic schedule and participate in on-call rotation
