Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in the emergency department, including initial assessment, triage, and ongoing monitoring of patients with diverse clinical needs.
- Administer medications, perform IV access, wound care, and other nursing procedures as ordered, while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed staff to plan and coordinate care for patients and families.
- document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the electronic health record; communicate changes in patient status to the team.
- Support families and significant others with clear explanations of procedures, treatments, and discharge instructions; contribute to evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to professional standards, state regulations, and ethical guidelines while maintaining composure in a high-acuity environment.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in Georgia (or eligibility to practice) with demonstrated knowledge of the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act.
- Ability to practice in an ER setting with the expectation to adhere to the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards established by the American Nurses Association.
- Nursing degree from an accredited program (RN) with clinical competencies appropriate for emergency services.
- Capacity to work nights and adapt to a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
- Relevant nursing experience in emergency services or acute care; travel assignment experience preferred.
- Commitment to patient-centered care, safety, and professional communication within an interdisciplinary team.
