Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to critically ill adults in the MICU, including patients requiring ventilation and advanced life support as appropriate.
- Monitor hemodynamics, administer medications and therapies per physician orders, and respond to rapid changes in patient status.
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other members of the multidisciplinary team; participate in rounds and care planning.
- Perform procedures and assist with interventions common to the MICU, while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the Cerner EMR; ensure clear communication during handoffs.
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning; uphold infection control and safety standards.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of MICU experience
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (required)
- Preferred but not required: CCRN
- Experience in a Cerner-based ICU environment (COVID ICU experience preferred)
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (1845–0715) and meet holiday coverage requirements
- Holiday coverage: Must work two major holidays among Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day, plus one minor holiday (e.g., the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or New Year’s Eve)
- Assignment location constraint: No local candidates within 50 miles
