Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care on the medical/surgical unit according to the plan of care and physician orders.
- Monitor patient condition, assess vital signs, and identify changes in clinical status; respond promptly and escalate as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments with accuracy, ensuring proper dosages, routes, and documentation.
- Develop and revise individualized care plans; coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes.
- Educate patients and families regarding conditions, treatments, and discharge needs; support psychosocial well-being.
- Supervise and delegate appropriate tasks to ancillary staff (e.g., CNAs) within their scope of practice; ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California (RN)
- Ability to work a 12-hour night shift (3x12 schedule) on a medical/surgical unit
- Demonstrated ability to care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations
- Med/surg nursing experience or related acute care experience preferred
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with a diverse care team
- Eligible to work in a hospital setting as a travel nurse and complete required onboarding and credentialing
