Responsibilities
- Set up, calibrate, and monitor polysomnography equipment during sleep studies; ensure patient comfort and safety
- Score sleep stages and events in accordance with standard scoring practices; verify data integrity
- Manage data acquisition, troubleshoot equipment issues, and document any protocol deviations
- Fit masks, educate patients on procedures, and reassure patients throughout the study
- Record findings and procedures in the electronic medical record (Epic) with accurate, complete documentation
- Communicate results and any concerns to the sleep team and supervising physicians; participate in ongoing quality improvements
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate degree acceptable; completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Sleep Technology Program
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of sleep technology experience; 3–5 years preferred
- Certifications: BLS certification required
- Knowledge/Skills: Proficiency with sleep study equipment, data scoring, and data troubleshooting; strong patient education and bedside manner
- EMR: Epic experience within the past 2 years required
- Scheduling/Setting: Ability to work the assigned shift pattern; weekend coverage required; hospital-based sleep program experience preferred
- Transportation: Reliable transportation required; local travel; vehicles with all-season or snow tires recommended November–April
