Responsibilities
- Implement treatment interventions under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, following the plan of care for residents.
- Conduct therapeutic exercises, gait and balance training, transfers, ADLs, and modality therapies as prescribed.
- Assist with documentation of patient progress in the electronic health record and communicate updates to the PT and interdisciplinary team.
- Monitor patient response to therapies, ensuring safety, proper body mechanics, and adherence to infection control standards.
- Educate residents and families on therapies, home programs, and safety strategies; collaborate with care teams to optimize outcomes.
- Support care coordination during rounds and share observations that impact care planning.
Requirements
- Active Physical Therapy Assistant license in Maine or eligibility for licensure during the assignment.
- Associate degree from an accredited PTA program.
- 1+ year of PTA experience in a skilled nursing, geriatric, or long-term care setting preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced SNF environment; reliable, team-focused, and able to communicate effectively with staff and residents.
- Proficiency in basic documentation and electronic health records; strong assessment and problem-solving skills.
