Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to adult patients in the PCU/IMCU, following established care plans and unit protocols.
- Monitor vital signs, assess patient status, and respond to changes in condition; manage therapies such as heparin drips per physician orders.
- Administer medications and infusion therapies accurately; document care and outcomes in the electronic health record.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team (physicians, case management, pharmacists, and support staff) to plan and implement patient care, discharge planning, and family education.
- Maintain patient safety, adherence to infection prevention guidelines, and adherence to unit policies; sustain a 1:4 nurse-patient ratio where applicable.
- Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, treatment plans, and post-discharge care; prepare clear handoffs during shift changes.
Requirements
- Licensure: active RN license in Georgia or eligibility to obtain GA licensure
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Experience: minimum of 2 years of RN experience in PCU/IMCU or comparable acute care setting
- Education: graduation from an accredited RN program; eligibility for state licensure
- Availability: able to work 12-hour day shifts on a 4-day per week schedule; able to meet guaranteed hours and holiday coverage requirements
- Compliance: ability to work in a hospital setting and follow unit protocols and patient-care standards
