- Orientation/onboarding: RN modules ~12–15 hours; 7 a.m. HealthStream completion prior to start
Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac telemetry, interpret rhythms, and respond to arrhythmias; administer IV cardiac medications and manage continuous infusions per protocol
- Provide comprehensive care for adults and geriatrics with telemetry/step-down needs, including stroke/CVA management; assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team (PT, RT, phlebotomy, social services, pharmacy, rapid response) and document clearly in the electronic charting system
- Maintain patient safety and comfort, perform ongoing assessments, and respond to rapid response and other urgent events as needed
- Float within the hospital to support unit needs within the tele/step-down scope of practice; adhere to unit protocols and staffing guidelines
- Complete required rhythm testing and ensure competency as part of ongoing professional practice
Requirements
- Active NY RN license in hand at submission and Nursys verification
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience; at least 1 year in telemetry/step-down; several years overall with telemetry experience considered acceptable
- BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS certification (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Proficiency in telemetry rhythm interpretation; ability to read rhythms and pass hospital proctored rhythm exam
- Experience with IV cardiac medications and continuous infusions; stroke care/CVA knowledge is a plus
- Epic charting experience; Relias EKG exam within 72 hours of signing with 100% passing expectation; onsite rhythm proctoring with 85%+ and 100% identification of critical rhythms (remediation may be offered)
- HealthStream modules must be completed by 7 a.m. on the Wednesday prior to start
- EKG testing: Relias EKG exam completed within 72 hours of signing
- COVID-19 vaccine not required; flu vaccination or documented exemption per policy
- Local radius requirement: candidates with primary residence within 50 miles of Saratoga or in Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, or Ulster counties will not be accepted
- Submission requires NY license verification, recent Nursys verification, SSN/DOB, references, and required certifications
