Travel Registered Nurse Med Surg Job
Registered Nurse, Med Surg | Hilo, HI | Start date 08/24/2026 | 13 weeks | $1,875–$2,037 per week | No guaranteed hours | 12-hour night shifts (3x12) | Travel - temporary assignment in an acute care setting. This assignment requires filing for or holding a Hawaii RN license by start and will include unit-specific orientation.

Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to adult medical-surgical patients, including monitoring status, administering medications, and implementing care plans.
- Float to assigned units (Medical Unit; Laulima Unit; occasional Cardiovascular Unit) as needed, following unit protocols and supervision.
- Perform common procedures and manage equipment such as wound vacs, chest tubes, and related post-operative care; maintain sterile technique and infection control standards.
- Document care and interventions in the EMR (Meditech) and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure patient safety and timely communication.
- Monitor vitals, respond to changes in patient condition, and provide patient and family education aligned with unit protocols.
- Maintain professional appearance and adhere to the dress code (clean scrubs) and ongoing documentation of required immunizations and certifications.
Requirements
- License: Hawaii RN license active by start date; travelers not in possession of HI license must apply upon acceptance, and must have Hawaii license by start.
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred; additional certifications (PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC) preferred.
- Experience: 2–10 years of Med/Surg RN experience.
- Immunity: Documentation of immunity required; immunization proof is not eligible for exemption.
- Floating and scope: Ability to float to Medical Unit; Laulima Unit; and occasional Cardiovascular Unit; able to work in an acute care setting with variable patient assignments.
- Orientation: Orientation time provided for each unit; arrival on time for onboarding is required.
- Work hours: Must be able to work 12-hour night shifts; schedule includes 36 hours per week after orientation with no guaranteed hours.
